Weeklyblog W11 3/3 Art and Comunication.

My belief is as follows.
Art is about communication. An artist style is based on how he communicates an idea. An artist's skill is based on how well the original idea is conveyed and received. Art seems to surpass national boundaries. However it does not usually. Art is for the most part interpenetrated differently because of different cultural aspects. It is very rare to find something that means the same thing to all people everywhere and every time.  One rarely is the coc-acola logo. People in every country around the world know what Coke is. Its logo translated into different languages

Assignment 0.6 sorry its late.

Weeklyblog W9 3/3 Paintings by Adam Haynes

Paintings by adam haynes

Wow. What unique creative pictures. These pictures are a huge inspiration to think differently. Particularly in the realm of ambiance. In my opinion these paintings have a sort of red neck feel to it. This doesn't mean I want to do redneck style art but it makes me think outside of the box and ask myself where i want to go with my work.

Weeklyblog W7 3/3 Text or crosshatching?

www.sarahaking.com
Originally i taught that the above picture was just a crosshatching illustration. However i was presently surprised to find out that I was wrong. The illustration is actually comprised entirely out of text. But the spaces between the laters and in them give everything their form. This is a wonderful combination of mediums. And this will help every artist who looks at this piece to think "outside of the box".

Its a spider. Nothing special. I have problems when it comes to putting details on top of each other. Maybe I'm afraid of losing information in some way. But this spider helped me work on that problem because its legs and body overlap in negative space.

Weeklyblog W7 3/3

On the subject of smiles on posters. This could very well be another poster. I like the simple design of it. However it isn't meant to be postie. Its meant to be ironic in the way it is illustrated. It will be illustrated to have a bleak feeling to it.

Weeklyblog W7 2/3

Its a simple illustration for a logo contest. Its not the actual ilistration that is important in this case because the font is what decides the look. HTe concept of it is more important.

Weeklyblog W7 1/3 Its a flower.

So far its just practice. But with alot of refinement it could turn into a "positive poser" The poster is actually a series of posters that show how a seed gorws into a flower to illustrate how we all change.

Assignment 0.5 | Sketch up | Red Blue chair

I hate this program with a passion.

Weeklyblog W5 3/3 Just something surreal.

Weeklyblog W5 3/2 Concept design.

The ability to develop a concept creativity is more important than skill to execute concepts. I was not very explicit in my type because the font I will be using has pre chosen.

This is a concept for a contest that I will be entering.

Weeklyblog W4 3/3 Contrast.

Contrast is beauty. Beauty is contrast. Without contrast nothing would be. Without the contrast of ugly and beauty. Neater would be.

Personal I prefer contrast in color. Especially when one color jsut seems to leap off the page and try and tackle you. But contrast in style and wold are equally beautiful. Say for instance there was a land or sharp corners and points and there was a figure or character with round lovely curves. The contrast would be beautiful. I love contrast. Contrast is art.

Weeklyblog W4 3/2 Turtle Type.

This picture is nt as elaborate as my previous post; I feel sort of bad not positing something of even greater quality. However this is just as important. Rather than improving my sketching skills I am improving my conception skills; In this field concept is more important than ability.
About the picture- I've seen several type pictures and animals. I thaughtt about doing one of those pictures myself. The result was a a turtle.
Now that I am really thinking aobut the concept as I type I feel like changing it and tweaking it even more. In a radical way. Any firther discusion on this picture would be pointless as everything is about to change.
Times Change.

Weeklyblog W4 3/1 Surrealist Animation

This flash animation is a great peak into a surrealist world. One where our logic is useless. However patterns exist. The Animator said himself that this piece is not made to make seance but rather to  be a world unlike our own. However we can make advanced articulate observations abut this piece even though no coloration was meant to be drawn between the 2 worlds they do exist in some manor. But what does this say about art in general? I believe that it says that art or rather the meaning of art is in the eye of the beholder. Art only exist in one persons eyes in their own particular way. That is what i found inspiring about this animation. Not the animation it self but the statement and meaning i derived form it.

Weeklyblog W4 3/3 Logo Contests

 Logo Contests
There is no better way to improve your skills than by competing with others of greater skill. I intend to improve my log making skills and typography skills by competing against others over the internet with prizes of several hundred dollars. I will also improve the quality of my ideas by thinking about logos.
I cant wait to dive in.

Weeklyblog W4 3/2 Improve your skills.

I was informed that the best way to improve your Drawing skills is to draw from life. I have and am doing so. I chose a extremely detailed action figure to draw because it IS detailed. This would present more of a challenge to me than doing something like a soda can or a ipod. Those would have been easeier, true, however you lean nothing by taking the easy road and you lean everything by taking the hard road.
The first picture is my attempt to draw the "hunter(halo3)" and the 2nd picture is as close to the perspective I could get to the drawing.
I am fairly happy with the results. However I will move onto bigger and better things.

Weeklyblog W4 3/1 Onward.

This is actual the same crow I posted last time. Its just underwent major renovations is all. I am prety much at a standstill with this project. However I have realized that i need to improve my sketch skills. and will do so. Because concept development and communication of ideas in this industry are important.

Assignment 0.3 Haptic model trace.

The top is my favorite because of the colors and complexity.

Weeklyblog W3 3/3 Success from Failure.

Thursday-Friday
I was once told you learn more form your failures than you do your success.
The first photo is a failure. I failed to make the raven as dynamic as i needed. In the digital field I will have to be a constant learner. To me this means i will bail at things continually thought my career.
The second picture is my next attempt It is still a work in progress.
I have leaned alot from my failure.

Weeklyblog W3 2/3 Half Life 2 COMBINE STUDY.

Wednesday.
This was a concept study of the character type Civil Protection/MetroCop. It is only the beginning of the study and much further investigation is required.
The feel of the metro cop is oppressive-urban. Jut looking at the standard gas mask reveals alot about the character. Just the fact of it being a gas mask makes it cliche-ly oppressive. But there is more to it than that. The shape (that I will discuss in more detail late)r is rich in character. The sharp lines in the gas mask give it a urban feel. This is most likely because of the sharp corners buildings have and the urban architecture always has.
There's 2 gas mask canisters. This is extremely weird for me as i was always told to make things come in odd numbers to add to interest. Maybe this was some small flaw in the character? I prefer to think that they did this intentional. In order to give this more of a conformist feel they apparently broke the odd rule. This creative rule brekaing gives the MetroCop a boring appeal. Almost faceless.

Weeklyblog W3 1/3 Ravens and Concept development.

The following events took palace Monday-Tuesday.
Before I begin any design I start on paper. This allows me to rapidly concept what I am going to do. The first picture is a concept for the pose of the Raven. The 2nd Picture is a study of raven wings. It is obvious that the development of an idea on paper is essential before moving into the digital realm. Concept is everything.

This first model is actualy a spiral however you can not tell from the shot. I like this shot the best because it has a interesting perspective as far as deph perception goes.  The spiral represents rythium. because to me the spiral is remenisant to the techno dance raves seen in "Modulations: Cinema for the Ear" because of how the beets make you dance.

This next model is one of my favorites. It represents structure. Particularly the city complex structure. Because of how all of the city blocks are piled apon one another.  This relates to Modulations: Cinema for the Ear In the way that Brithish jungle techno makes one feel as if they are part of an urban structure sicioty

This model represents rythim and how people all have their win dance to the beat. Because of their humanoid structure.  It is obious how it realtes to Modulations: Cinema for the Ear.

This construct represents Melody. Particularly in the way "electronic music" has become intertwine within our culture. The copper is symbolic of the electronic element in todays music while the silver represents the old style of music and how ti still holds a large part in todays musical culture. Eletronic music as see in Modulations: Cinema for the Ear.

This represents melody. And how the sound waves modulate in the way we perceive them.

When i compare my models to everyone else's i realize htat they are quite small. I believe this is due in part to my past as a modlist. This prior hoby has most likely left me micro-minded
